Responsibility gaps and the reactive attitudes

Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are ubiquitous. From social media timelines, video recommendations on YouTube, and the kinds of adverts we see online, AI, in a very real sense, filters world see. More than that, AI is being embedded agent-like systems, which might prompt certain reactions from users. Specifically, find ourselves feeling frustrated if these do not meet our expectations. In normal situations, this be fine, but with ever increasing sophistication AI-systems, become problem. While it seems unproblematic to realize that angry at your car for breaking down unfitting, can same said AI-systems? paper, therefore, I will investigate so-called “reactive attitudes”, their important link responsibility practices. then show how within framework there exist exemption excuse conditions, test whether adopting “objective attitude” toward agential justified. argue such an attitude appropriate context three distinct senses (answerability, attributability, accountability), AI-systems undermine ascriptions.
